Our rock. Becca is the greatest example of hard work and determination.

Becca is the rock of OTG. She’s consistent not only in how often she’s here, but in her mindset and willingness to get better. You might catch her giving the death stare to her coach… :), but inside we know she’s up for any challenge. We are proud of how far Becca has come since starting CrossFit, and we are excited to see her continue to grow! She’s got a first-in-last-out type of work ethic and it clearly shows in her progress and in her results. Watch out for “The Becc-onator” in her first Open in 2021 and if you see her at Charlie’s, you owe her something cold!

Q: How does it feel to be the March OTG Member of the Month?
A: I didn’t believe it at first! I feel honored, proud, and so thankful for the family at OTG.
Q: How old are you?
A: 31 (for three more weeks)
Q: What do you do for a living?
A: I’m a mental health/trauma therapist at a local high school and I also do private practice.
Q: What was your athletic background before CrossFit?
A: I played soccer for 3 years in high school and ran cross country, indoor, and outdoor track for 2 years in college (Rutgers Camden). Since then, I’ve stuck with running and do a handful of local races.
Q: How has training this way changed your life?
A: it’s made me the strongest I’ve ever been, mentally and physically. I’m surprised by my progress and performance on a daily basis when I’m at OTG. Through these challenging times, OTG has been consistent, supportive, and always welcoming. It has been my happy place and my home away from home. I’ve also gotten to meet so many wonderful and amazing people and athletes. I’ve learned so much from them.
Q: How long have you been CrossFitting?
A: I’ve been going since February 2020.
Q: What's your favorite cheat meal?
A: This is a hard question because I’m a foodie, but I’m going simple—Charlie’s wings, fries, and a cold adult beverage :)
Q: What are your favorite movements/workouts?
A: Running, squats, box jumps, burpees, sit ups, and hang power cleans (mostly quads and cardio). I also prefer the longer workouts (20+ minutes)
Q: If you could make up your own workout that fits your strengths, what would it be and what would you call it? (AMRAP? RDS for time? Movements?)
A: “Tail Gun—IYKYK” for time: 800m run, 30 sit ups, 20 box jump overs, 10 burpees; 20 box jump overs, 30 sit ups, 800m run (I was going to make it a mile run but I scaled it back for my non-running peeps).
Q: What was one goal when you first started at OTG? Have you progressed toward that goal?
A: My one goal was to push through my insecurities by being consistent and showing up no matter what. I tried CrossFit 4-5 years ago but was too fearful... if I could do anything to go back in time to change that, I would. I’ve definitely achieved that goal, I try to go 6 days a week and now with open gym, someone might have to force me to take a day off!
Q: What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve had in the gym so far?
A: probably becoming ‘friendly’ (I say that loosely) with the rig and being able to do 2-3 strict pull-ups within the last few weeks actually. I couldn’t do 1 pull-up a few weeks ago!
Q: What is it that you like most about CrossFit OTG?
A: The unconditional love, support, knowledge, and motivation from the coaches and the other members. It is truly a family there.
Q: What are your top 2 most used Emojis?
A: Crying laughing and any heart emoji
Q: What would you say to someone who is on the fence about trying OTG?
A: Just do it and I promise you won’t have any regrets. There are ways to modify every work out and movement for any age, athletic ability, or background. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive!
