Athlete of the MonthJanuary

Eileen Lipshultz

Career: Nurse

Years at CrossFit OTG: 1

The fastest improving member of OTG!

Eileen is a former Division-I rower and has jumped into CrossFit and made huge strides! Super strong and athletic, you can catch Eileen crushing the erg (obviously!) and moving some serious LBs on the barbell. We love having Eileen in class and it’s common to see her sneak in a dance move between sets! Class is more fun when she’s here and when she’s not, she’s making us proud working as a nurse <3. Congratulations on Member of the Month and we’re excited to see you keep getting better everyday!

Q: How does it feel to be the January OTG Member of the Month?
A: It feels really good! I was really nervous about joining CrossFit, and excited to know my hard work is paying off
Q: How old are you?
A: 23
Q: What do you do for a living?
A: I’m a nurse.
Q: What was your athletic background before CrossFit?
A: I rowed in college:
Q: How has training this way changed your life?
A: Definitely feel like I live a healthier lifestyle now.
Q: How long have you been CrossFitting?
A: 4 months now
Q: What's your favorite cheat meal?
A: A burrito!
Q: What are your favorite movements/workouts?
A: Back squatting/ Rowing Machine
Q: If you could make up your own workout that fits your strengths, what would it be and what would you call it? (AMRAP? RDS for time? Movements?)
A: Quadzilla - AMRAP style—pistol squats, suitcase lunges, assault bike
Q: What was one goal when you first started at OTG? Have you progressed toward that goal?
A: Goal when I started was to be able to do a strict pull up. I’m almost able to do kipping pull up now. When I started I could barely hang from the bar so I’ve made some serious progress.
Q: What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve had in the gym so far?
A: Prior to joining CrossFit, I struggled to hit 185 for a back squat and I can now comfortably hit 215 for two. Also, just hit my first TTB, which is huge because I suck at bar skills.
Q: What is it that you like most about CrossFit OTG?
A: I really love the community. They are so supportive and always push you to do the best you can.
Q: What are your top 2 most used Emojis?
A: Dancing person and star eyes!
Q: What would you say to someone who is on the fence about trying OTG?
A: the best part about CrossFit is that you can scale to what your body is capable of. There’s so many different options of a movement that the coaches can help you figure out what’s best for you, and you get a kick a** workout in, in a matter of an hour.
