Athlete of the MonthFebruary

Shannon Ellenbart

Career: Waitress (Soon to be Nurse!)

Years at CrossFit OTG: 5

Always hard working and with a great attitude!

We are excited to have Shannon Ellenbart as our February MOTM!!!

In the gym, Bart is an outstanding athlete with an even better attitude. It’s easy to see how hard she works and watching her power through workouts is amazing. Good luck staying as tough as Bart when things get difficult.

Outside of the gym, Shannon is only months away from graduating nursing school, and we are so proud that she’s been able to do so well in school, and still be consistently getting in workouts. We know it’s not easy to do!!! We will be sure to celebrate when you’re finished!

Congratulations, Bart. Well deserved!

Q: How does it feel to be the February OTG Member of the Month?
A:  Totally unexpected! I am extremely grateful to have such support in my accomplishments and I am honored to be this month’s member. Thank you!
Q: How old are you?
A:  33. Ew.
Q: What do you do for a living?
A: Full time nursing student GRADUATION MAY 14 / have most definitely been someone’s waitress at the anchorage.
Q: What was your athletic background before CrossFit?
A: 3 sport high school athlete and D2 soccer player
Q:  How has training this way changed your life?
A: It has allowed me to still feel like that athlete I grew up trying to be. I have never loved my body and its abilities more.
Q:  How long have you been CrossFitting?
A: On and Off for 5 years
Q: What's your favorite cheat meal?
Q: What are your favorite movements/workouts?
A: Squats / Handstands / Burpees. Legs & Cardio
Q: If you could make up your own workout that fits your strengths, what would it be and what would you call it? (AMRAP? RDS for time? Movements?)
A: I DO IT FOR THE TACOS 4 rounds for time: 400 m run 5 toes to bar 10 front squats 15 burpees over the bar Finish with Shot of Tequila
Q: What was one goal when you first started at OTG? Have you progressed toward that goal?
Pull ups & Toes to bar. I can do kipping pull ups and 1 strict (my 30th birthday goal). Toes to bar I finally connected over the weekend! I am always going to be work in progress!

A: 2 rep dead lift @ 210 and 2 rep back squat @ 215 - with a persistent back issue this was a highlight to my lifting thus far.
Q: What is it that you like most about CrossFit OTG?
A: The friends I have made over the years of coming to the gym. I feel like I am still on a team, which is something that truly resonates with me. As we age as athletes the opportunities for teams diminishes and this fills that void for me. Love you all.
Q: What are your top 2 most used Emojis?
A:  Party face & skull/crossbones
Q: What would you say to someone who is on the fence about trying OTG?
A: You are only standing in the way of your own success. Great change comes with stepping outside your comfort zone.
